John_edited.jpg

John M

Secondary Maths and Physics

From a young age, John had twin loves in the fields of Maths/Science and Music. In his school years, he was selected from a national pool to be part of the training team for the Australian Physics Olympiad and was offered a National Undergraduate Scholarship to study Physics and Theoretical Physics at the Australian National University in Canberra. However, after completing his studies in Physics, he pursued his other love and found himself performing on stages in Europe, Australia and around the world as an Early Music specialist.

In the Netherlands, he has privately tutored international students from the American School of the Hague, British School of the Hague and the International School of the Hague in Mathematics and Physics. His students have been offered placements and scholarships in prestigious universities in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, and Europe.

The focus of his teaching is on the deeper first-principles understanding of concepts, and not upon rote drilling. This method equips a student with the critical thinking and analytic skills that are prized by employers and researchers and better prepares them for university and work life. The side effect of this type of deeper understanding are high marks and an ability to adapt their book knowledge to novel situations.
